Changing Lives with Cutting-Edge Innovations

From communicating with a patient emerging from a coma, healing pain from chemotherapy with neurostimulation, or teaching a quadriplegic man to drive with his thoughts, our experts in physical medicine and rehabilitation are using cutting-edge innovations in medicine to change people’s lives. Join us at the Fawcett Center, the new permanent home of our Buckeye Smart series, to learn about innovations in physical medicine from these distinguished doctors.

About the Speakers

Dr. Sheital Bavishi is the Medical Director of the Brain Injury Program at Dodd Inpatient Rehabilitation hospital. She is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Subspecialty Board Certified in Brain Injury Medicine. She has been at OSUWMC since 2013 and has established the only Disorders of Consciousness program in Ohio at OSUWMC.

Dr. Marcie Bockbrader is a neurorehabilitation physiatrist (MD) and neurotechnology researcher (PhD) at Dodd Hall. She is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Subspecialty Board Certified in Brain Injury Medicine.

Dr. Whitney Luke is Vice Chair of Clinical Operations for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is the Medical Director of Oncology Rehabilitation. She is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is subspecialty board certified in both pain medicine and addiction medicine. She has been at OSUWMC since 2010 and developed the cancer rehabilitation program that was the first in Ohio, second in the US, and third in the world to receive CARF accreditation.
