Join us on a remarkable journey to explore the natural beauty and heritage of Denmark and Norway.

Delve into the vibrant Viking heritage and the rich cultures of Denmark and Norway on this nine-night journey with stays in Copenhagen, Oslo and Bergen, plus a one-night cruise. In Copenhagen, visit the Old Town and Rosenborg Castle. See the city’s landmarks during an afternoon canal cruise. On an overnight cruise to Oslo, take in dramatic views of the Norwegian coast. In Oslo, see ancient Viking ships and explore the Vikings’ seafaring lifestyle. Next, enjoy the spectacular scenery on Europe’s highest-altitude train line to the historic town of Bergen. Discover Bergen’s charm and history. Take a ride on one of the world’s steepest train rides from the top of a mountain through the most scenic region of Norway to the shores the majestic Songefjord. AHI FlexAir passengers depart for Copenhagen, Denmark. Please check your luggage from your gateway city to your arrival city. Your claim checks should have the following airport code: CPH.

Meals - Appropriate in-flight meal service

Arrive at Copenhagen Airport. Proceed through immigration to the baggage claim area and retrieve your luggage. After completing customs, AHI FlexAir passengers traveling on flights that qualify for the group arrival transfer and Land Program passengers who have purchased seats on the group transfer should exit the baggage claim area and proceed to the designated meeting spot, where an AHI Travel representative will meet them. The meeting location will be provided with your final documents.

Transfer to the Copenhagen Admiral Hotel. Please note if you arrive before check-in time, your room may not be immediately available.

Free Time: The afternoon is at leisure. Consider a stroll through the center of the city, easily accessible from the hotel, or walk to the nearby waterfront and Gefion Fountain.

Enrichment: Scandinavia Today. Discuss the current events shaping contemporary Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

Discovery: Rosenborg Castle. Danish royals held court at this Renaissance palace for a century before turning it into a museum in the late 1700s. King Christian IV built this 17th-century treasure in Dutch Renaissance style. See the Crown Jewels and other royal treasures. You may catch a glimpse of royal guards in their colorful uniforms marching on the nearby parade grounds. Stroll through the castle’s lush garden and pristine grounds.

Visit a typical Danish restaurant for lunch.

Discovery: The Canals of Copenhagen. Cruise along Copenhagen’s beloved waterways and see some of the bustling capital’s most renowned sites, including the Opera House, Amalienborg Palace, the Little Mermaid, the Black Diamond and more.

Free Time: Spend the rest of the day exploring Copenhagen at your leisure. Stroll over to Tivoli Gardens, a charming amusement park that has been delighting visitors since 1843, or visit the Carlsberg Brewery for a beer tasting.

Discovery: Copenhagen, Past and Present. See the city through the eyes of its most famous residents, including storyteller Hans Christian Andersen. A walking tour takes you through a warren of quaint streets and off-the-beaten-path squares as well as famous landmarks.

Free Time: Spend some time on your own discovering Copenhagen. Denmark is known for its clean, modern design. Visit some design shops to see beautiful furniture, jewelry and other items that are original and uniquely Danish.

Free Time: The morning is free to relax and enjoy more of Copenhagen on your own. Learn more about the Danish royal family and visit Amalienborg Palace or Christianborg Palace, which also is home of the Danish Parliament.

This afternoon, transfer to the port and board a DFDS Seaways Ferry bound for Oslo, Norway. As the ship sails to Oslo, admire breathtaking scenery or settle into your cabin.

Tonight, experience a smorgasbord, a Scandinavian feast!

After breakfast, admire the Norwegian coastline as the ship approaches Oslo. This is one of the most scenic views of the city.

Discovery: Oslo. Enjoy a sweeping view of Oslo and learn how skiing fits into Norway’s culture during a visit to Holmenkollen and its Ski Museum. Continue to Vigelandsparken, a sculpture garden.

Enjoy an introduction to Norwegian cuisine during lunch.

Free Time: Enjoy the rest of the day exploring Oslo at your leisure. You may want to visit the Nobel Peace Center, the Munch Museum or the Botanical Garden. For dinner, you may want to head to visit Mathallen, a trendy food hall with a variety of restaurants, bars and shops.

Discovery: The Vikings. Visit the Viking Ships Museum, home to the Gokstad, Tune and Oseberg — the world’s best-preserved Viking ship — ships as well as Viking ships found along the Oslo Fjord, some buried in the waters for more than 1,000 years. Continue to the Kon-Tiki Museum, which houses a range of boats and artifacts from Thor Heyerdahl’s expeditions. See the original Kon-Tiki raft (1947) and the papyrus boat Ra II (1970).

Free Time: The rest of the day is at leisure. Why not continue the maritime theme and stroll along the Harbour Promenade? From east to west, this 5.5-mile waterfront path takes you past the Opera House, the city’s modern architecture and much more! Stop for lunch and the views at one of the many restaurants along the promenade.

Depart for Bergen this morning.

Discovery: Bergen Railway. Travel to Bergen on Europe’s highest altitude railway and one of the most scenic routes in the world. See breathtaking scenery as you travel across the Hardangervidda, a plateau at more than 4,000 feet above sea level. The tracks climb to Finse, the highest point on the route, then the landscape changes dramatically as the train edges along dramatic fjords, tumbling waterfalls and green forests. Keep an eye out for wild reindeer!

Upon arrival this afternoon, check in to the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Bergen.

Free Time: The rest of the day is at leisure in Bergen. Stroll along Bryggen, the historic wharf, and see a bit of what Bergen looked like during its Hanseatic heyday.

Enrichment: The Fjords of Norway. Fjords, which give Norway and Scandinavia such beauty, have played a vital role in Nordic history and culture. Learn about the geological and cultural history of Sognefjord and Hardangerfjord.

Discovery: Bergen. Nestled beside a sheltered harbor and surrounded by seven mountains and seven fjords, Norway’s second-largest city is said to have “its head in the sky and its feet in the sea.” Settled in 1070, Bergen became the most important town in medieval Norway, a residence of royalty and a major trading post for Hanseatic League maritime merchants. Explore Bryggen, which is associated with the city’s Hanseatic history, and see King Haakon’s Hall, Rosenkrantz Tower, old Hanseatic Warehouses along Bryggen and St. Mary’s Church. Visit the home of Edvard Grieg in nearby Troldhaugen.

Free Time: The rest of the day is free to explore Bergen on your own. Stay and stroll along the quay, or visit several museums and galleries featuring everything from paintings to handicrafts. For an aerial view of the city, take a cable car to Ulriken, the highest of the Seven Mountains that frame Bergen.

Discovery: The Best of Norway. Travel by train, boat and motor coach through Norway’s most scenic areas. Take a train along the eastern fjords to Myrdal to hop aboard the Flåm line, which travels through the country’s most beautiful region to the pristine Aurlandsfjord. Cruise the waters of the Sognefjord to Gudvangen before exploring Voss, where vistas featuring mountains, forests, lakes and waterfalls await you!

Tonight, share your favorite moments of your Nordic adventure with your fellow travelers at a Farewell Dinner.
