The mind’s eye
Greg Daniel, cornet player, was a band alternate as an undergraduate and currently serves as co-chair of the Hyper Active Band, a small group of alumni who play at events to raise money for TBDBITL scholarships. Daniel, 61, has been blind since age 6. To march, he relied on sound, on music embossed into Braille and on his band family.

Social media tip: Post shareable content
One of the best ways to grow your social media following is by posting shareable content. What is shareable content? Anything fun, entertaining or informational that relates back to your club or society. Posts that include photos from events, content featuring scholarship recipients or a story about a club or society volunteering in the community would be considered sharable content. For example, the Cheerleading Alumni Society posted pictures of their Hyper Friday event on Facebook and Twitter. Similarly, the North Carolina Alumni Club posted a photo of club members doing O-H-I-O with food they collected for a local charity.
Shareable content fits well alongside promotional content. Promotional content includes advertisements, such as posts promoting a club or society event or a group membership initiative. While promotional content is important, shareable content will help you keep your audience’s attention and build a community. For questions or more information on all things social media, feel free to reach out Michelle Morgan at email@example.com.
Information about the Alumni Association’s 2015-16 scholarship season was sent to you in September. It isn’t too early to start planning and selecting your scholarship committee. Student lists will be sent in early January and scholarship amount projections will be sent in early February. The deadline for club ASP Cover Sheet and Rankings is February 25. The picture isn’t pretty for guys who post a lot of selfies on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. A new study showed that men who posted more online photos of themselves than others scored higher on measures of narcissism and psychopathy.
Fast food linked to lower test scores
The amount of fast food children eat may be linked to how well they do in school, a new nationwide study suggests. Researchers found that the more frequently children reported eating fast food in fifth grade, the lower their growth in reading, math, and science test scores by the time they reached eighth grade.
