Save the date: Club and Society leadership symposium
Sept. 24-Sept. 25, 2015
Please mark your calendars for the 2015 Club and Society Leadership Symposium. We have a lot of information to share with you, so this year the conference will be one-and-a-half days, beginning Thursday afternoon, Sept. 24. There will be no cost to attend and no limit to the number of officers or board members you wish to register. We are currently working on a block of hotel rooms and will send information in the save the date email to presidents next week.
Supporting what matters most
Charles Hancock knew how mentors could change a student’s life. It happened for him. As a first-generation college student in 1959, he had major aspirations and little money to carry them out.
Report your summer send-offs
Alumni clubs around the country will be celebrating the start of new school year by holding Summer Send-Off events for incoming Ohio State freshmen in their area. If your group is planning an event, please send details to Nadine Holmes as soon as possible. Details include: Type of event (cookout, picnic, lunch, etc.); Time, date and place; RSVP information (club RSVP contact and RSVP deadline).
Social media tip: Let the OSUAA channels advertise your club or society
Do you want to get the word out about your club or society? This summer, The Ohio State University Alumni Association would like to highlight various clubs and societies on their Facebook or Twitter accounts. If you would like your club or society to be considered for social media promotion, send the following to Michelle Morgan at firstname.lastname@example.org:
- Your club or society’s name
- An engaging photo of your club or society. This can include an O-H-I-O photo, a photo from one of your club or society’s events or a group photo.
- Any additional details you want to share about your club or society. This can include events your group hosts, community service projects or any other relevant information.
We look forward to hearing from you! For questions or more information on all things social media, contact the Alumni Association’s Michelle Morgan.
Share your group’s good work
Remember to share your club and society accomplishments and points of pride for consideration in
Ohio State Alumni magazine. A new submission form makes the process simple and quick. The deadline is Monday, May 18, to have items considered for the July-August Buckeye Buzz page.

Speaker profile: Steve Gavazzi
Dean, Ohio State Mansfield
Gavazzi currently serves as Dean and Director of Ohio State Mansfield, where he has concentrated intensively on modernizing the student experience of a regional campus. As a scholar, he has established a research program that identifies the impact of family dynamics on adolescent development and behavior, including the substantial impact that families have on educational success in children and adolescents. A trained family therapist, he has been developing a systematic way of understanding the relationships between campuses and communities in ways that are remarkably like marriages.
