We offer individual career advising for all Ohio State alumni. You may request an individual appointment to be held either in person, by phone, or via Skype for a variety of career-related issues, including career decision-making and job transition assistance. We will assist you with developing the necessary tools for a job search, including exploration, networking, resume writing, and interviewing.

Career advising options

Initial Intake Appointment: No Cost

Single Appointment: $60*; $40 for recent alumni within three years of graduation

Assessment Package: $150; $110 for recent alumni within three years of graduation

  • MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)
  • SII (Strong Interest Inventory)
  • Two 1-hour advising sessions

Job Search Package: $200; $130 for recent alumni within three years of graduation

  • Four 1-hour advising sessions on topics of your choice such as resume critique, networking, job search strategies and support, interviewing skills and mock interview.
Advising appointments must occur within a six month period from date of purchase. Advising fees are non-refundable. To purchase a package, please call 800-635-8944.

Alumni Career Management Staff

Marilyn Bury Rice

Marilyn Bury Rice, Director

Marilyn has 30 years of experience in the career management field within higher education, non-profit, and corporate settings. She has advised students and alumni at Purdue University, Hanover College, the University of Notre Dame, Ohio Wesleyan, and The Ohio State University. She had the privilege of assisting women in becoming financially self-sufficient as a career consultant for Center for New Directions (a United Way Agency). And Marilyn spent 15 years working with experienced professionals in career transition at Right Management, a global talent and career management firm.

Marilyn holds a BS in communication and psychology and an MS in counseling and higher education administration from Purdue University. She values assisting alumni in their ongoing career development and connecting with fellow Buckeyes around the globe.

Kioshana LaCount Burrell, Assistant Director, Virtual Career Resources

Kioshana has more than eight years of experience in career and life coaching, having held positions in the non-profit, private and public sectors. She has six years of experience in management and consulting for U.S Department of Labor contractors, and now uses her invaluable industry expertise to advise alumni in the Office of Career Management.

Kioshana holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and International Business from Alabama State University, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Faulkner University.

Ankit Shah, Career Consultant

Ankit has more than seven years of experience in the career management field within higher education and K-12 settings. He has advised students and alumni at Methodist University, Denison University, Columbus State Community College, and The Ohio State University. He had the privilege of assisting underserved as well as underrepresented populations in his entire professional journey, specifically in the lens of P-20. Now, due to his diverse educational and professional journey, he is excited to work with alumni to assist with their variety of careers in the Office of Alumni Career Management.

Ankit holds a BS in Early Childhood Education from University of Toledo and a MEd in Higher Education Administration with specialization in Student Affairs from North Carolina State University.
