Marching into history

TBDBITL sets the pace across 46 Manhattan blocks in coldest-ever Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

This was a morning like no other, a frigid slice of Big Apple tradition mixed with so much pride in The Ohio State University Marching Band that memories of its debut in the 92nd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will always warm Buckeye hearts. From the moment they stepped off at New York City’s West 77th Street and Central Park West and marched two and a half miles in an hour to Midtown’s Herald Square, The Best Damn Band in the Land burnished its reputation before some 50 million viewers worldwide. Bundled-up Buckeyes stood out among more than 3.5 million spectators who lined the parade route despite the 19-degree temperature that set an event record. Here’s a trove of photos to treasure in celebration of this special holiday performance. — Todd Jones
