A traditional welcome
|
Since 1940, many Ohio State presidents have enjoyed ceremonial welcomes that mark their symbolic transitions to the institution’s highest office.
These ceremonies feature an oath and the presentation of the presidential medallion and have been held at various campus locations, from St. John Arena to Mershon Auditorium. Take a look back at the history of these welcome ceremonies that started with Howard Bevis and will continue with current Ohio State President Michael V. Drake’s investiture ceremony on March 31.
At the ceremony, Drake will share his vision for Ohio State during his investiture address. Watch via a livestream at 1:30 p.m. EDT that day as the university adds another chapter to its presidential history.

First woman to win Wolf Prize in Agriculture. Professor Linda Saif is the first woman and Ohio State’s first scientist to receive the prestigious Wolf Prize, joining the likes of Stephen Hawking and Peter Higgs. Saif’s virus-fighting work in humans and food-producing animals has saved lives and led to new ways to design vaccines.
