Research university

Research at Ohio State knows no bounds. Faculty and student researchers are making discoveries with impact across Ohio, the nation and the globe. Just this fall, Ohio State researchers made news across a remarkable spectrum of topics. The world’s first solar battery. The promise of ibuprofen in reducing lung swelling in older adults. The potential of improved construction standards to reduce natural gas contamination of drinking-water wells. Innovations in new sensors to gather big data aimed at improving health.

The university’s commitment to research demonstrates its resolve toward solving global challenges. Executive Vice President and Provost Joseph Steinmetz showcases Ohio State’s strategy in a blog post focused on research.
