Emily's dream was to attend Ohio State. Now she's finding ways to pay forward, inspired by the donors who support her scholarship.
My name is Emily Daum, and I am a third-year student here at The Ohio State University. I am studying Zoology with a Pre-Medicine track. I am originally from Greensburg, Pennsylvania and made the move to Columbus in pursuit of my dream school and dream job.
My aunt is an Ohio State alum, and she inspired me to attend this incredible university. I even followed in her footsteps by joining the Stadium Scholarship Program, which has given me such a strong sense of belonging, making it easy to call Ohio State my home. Being in the Stadium Scholarship Program gave me a great foundation to build upon, including involvement, community service, leadership and university pride. I have met so many incredible people that have helped me jump out of my comfort zone and become more involved in extracurricular activities, university events and residence life. Currently, I am a Resident Advisor for my community and wouldn’t have been able to pursue this without the help of my peers, friends, professors and coworkers.
I’ve participated in several wonderful events at Ohio State, such as BuckeyeThon, Relay for Life and Feed the Funnel. All these events focus on helping those in need, which is something that I’ve come to appreciate and love immensely. I came to Ohio State not only to get a great education, but to make an impact on the world around me. I want to make a difference in people’s lives, which is why I am pursuing my dream of becoming a doctor. I'm so proud of all the incredible people and resources at Ohio State. But none of this would be possible for me without the generosity of the donors who support the Name and Seal Scholarship.

I had never realized how difficult it is to attend college until I saw the out-of-state tuition cost for the school that I could not resist attending. Though my parents have been so helpful with making it possible, to this day, I still struggle with the challenge of student debt. The Name and Seal Scholarship was such a blessing, and truly alleviated so much of the financial challenge that comes with getting a great education. I am so appreciative of the generosity of those who have contributed to the scholarship because it allows for students like me to have a holistic college experience. Donors empower me to continue on my journey to make our world a better place by using the skills and mindset that I’ve discovered at Ohio State.
Donors are the reason many students don’t have to let go of their dreams. People like you believe in us, and our collective ability to become the best versions of ourselves to help the next generation of Buckeyes. For that, I am forever grateful!
