Drake incorporates music of the Civil Rights movement into a class that he teaches students on the turbulent and inspiring era of American history. It’s a perfect fit for Drake, a music fan and guitar player whose 2020 Vision for the university includes a focus on diversity and inclusion.

Ohio State adds brain power to Smart City. Collaboration with Ohio State and additional partners helped Columbus, Ohio, beat out more than 70 competitors to be named the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Smart City. University scientists and facilities will now play a central role in implementing the $140 million program to transform central Ohio into the nation’s premier transportation innovation region.

The university is dedicating $400 million to lowering the cost and improving the value of an Ohio State education, including $100 million in affordability grants. It also enacted the first comprehensive cost freeze for Ohio undergraduates in at least 40 years.

From Brazil with love. Students and alumni from around the world have earned coveted spots in this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Athletes will compete in sports including fencing, gymnastics, rowing, soccer, swimming and wrestling for the United States, Canada, Spain, New Zealand, the Netherlands, France, Lebanon and the Bahamas — all while proudly representing Buckeye Nation.
