When many people think of virtual reality, or VR, they think of video games, movies — general entertainment. But the truth is, VR can be leveraged to be a very powerful teaching tool, especially in the nursing field. Michael Ackerman and Stephanie Justice DNP, RN, CHSE
Ackerman is currently the Director of the Master in Healthcare Innovation Program and Professor of Clinical Nursing at The Ohio State University. His entire career has been in the critical care arena from staff nurse, nurse manager, clinical nurse specialist, nurse practitioner and most recently Senior Director of Nursing.
Justice is an assistant professor of clinical nursing at The Ohio State University College of Nursing, is one of 16 simulation educators from across the country who was selected through a competitive application process for the National League for Nursing’s year-long Leadership Development Program for Simulation Educators. She is a member of the Virtual Reality Simulation Interest Group for the International Nursing Association for Clinical and Simulation Learning.

Dallas is majoring in nursing at The Ohio State University. She works as a student assistant at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
