Minute Professor: Why high GPAs could hurt young women job seekers

You may have heard that "grades don't matter" when it comes to landing your first job out of college. But is that true?

Not if you're a woman, according to Ohio State research.

Natasha Quadlin's study shows that exceptional college grades could actually hurt women new to the job market, because employers place more value on the perceived “likability” of female applicants than on their academic successes.

Male applicants, on the other hand, weren't judged negatively for their good grades.
