For Ohioans stories

Putting our shared knowledge to work in communities around the state

  1. Project keeps communities together through unrest

Brining programs, training and solutions to communities to help people deal constructively with political unrest and conflict — and address the underlying issues — is what drove the Divided Community Project to be created at The Ohio State University.

  2. Moms, families receiving resources from Moms2B

Since the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak hit Ohio, Moms2B has worked with LifeCare Alliance to deliver food to moms in the program, as well as the same spirit of support that has been a hallmark of the program since its inception.

  3. Imran's passion for giving pays off for the kids

Spending four years with a student-run philanthropy effort that raises money and awareness in support of children fighting cancers provided Imran Nuri with professional development skills and mentors.

  4. The most adorable job on campus is also rewarding

Meet two student organizations that put puppies to the test every day on our campuses. These guide dogs get valuable training as they prepare to help people in their community.

  5. Finding the resources to effect change

Aaron Westbrook’s Form5 Prosthetics recycles plastic into 3D-printed prosthetics for those missing limbs. In the three-plus years of its existence, Form5 has worked with seven people to make eight devices — helping recipients go bowling or play an instrument, for example.

  6. Working toward a cleaner Lake Erie at Stone Laboratory

Growing up in Cleveland, Harrison Fried loved to care for his aquariums, maintaining a healthy world for his fish. It’s a hobby that blossomed into a larger passion: to preserve the environment we all live in. At Stone Laboratory, Ohio State’s island campus on Lake Erie, Fried got to embark on a research study that he hopes will encourage improvements to the lake’s ecosystem.
