Bruce A. McPheron Named Ohio State Provost
President Michael V. Drake has named Bruce A. McPheron executive vice president and provost. McPheron is a nationally recognized scholar, teacher and community leader. As Ohio State's chief academic officer, he will work alongside faculty, staff and students to help ensure that the university continues to advance its national influence and impact in multidisciplinary research, cutting-edge teaching and learning initiatives, and exemplary community and civic engagement. Leadership Statement
The Provost Advisory Committee composed the leadership statement for Ohio State's next Executive Vice President and Provost. You can review the leadership statement by clicking here. Following six listening sessions across the university, during which the committee received feedback from more than 200 faculty, staff and students, the Provost Advisory Committee created the leadership statement to reflect the responsibilities and qualifications of Ohio State's academic leader. Several of the items in the leadership statement represent direct feedback from the university community.

Listening Sessions
The Ohio State University is well-positioned to attract an academic leader who will continue our great momentum on student access and success, boundless research through the Discovery Themes and impactful service to global communities. Faculty, staff and student input and engagement will be crucial throughout the search.
The Provost Advisory Committee began the process by actively seeking input and feedback from faculty, staff and students, who had the opportunity to provide thoughts at one of our listening sessions.
These conversations occurred at a variety of locations and the feedback collected will help shape the leadership profile of our executive vice president and provost. During the sessions, participants discussed the opportunities and challenges facing our next executive vice president and provost, as well as the experience and other qualifications that would best prepare someone for academic leadership at Ohio State. The Provost Advisory Committee may also seek input from additional individuals and groups, as needed throughout the search.

Provost Advisory Committee
The Ohio State University President Michael V. Drake began the national search for the university’s executive vice president and provost by assembling the advisory committee. President Drake named Lonnie King, professor and former dean, College of Veterinary Medicine, as chair of the Provost Advisory Committee, which is comprised of faculty, staff and students from colleges and units across the university, including regional campuses. R. William Funk & Associates, a national leader in higher education executive searches, will assist Ohio State as an external consultant.
The university anticipates having a permanent executive vice president and provost in place for the 2016-2017 academic year. Bruce A. McPheron, vice president for agricultural administration and dean of the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, is serving as interim executive vice president and provost during the search.
