Two Ohio State experts in meteorology and disaster response delve into the science and spectacle of storm chasing in a recent episode, sparked by interest in the new movie "Twisters."

Dr. Jana Houser, meteorologist and storm chaser, specializes in radar analysis of tornadoes and contributed her expertise and storm-chasing experience to film "Twisters."

Houser shared that tornadoes are increasingly occurring outside traditional "Tornado Alley," impacting regions not historically known for frequent tornadoes.

"Tornadoes can happen at any time of the year. Always have a safety plan and be aware of your surroundings."

Dr. Nicholas Kman, clinical professor at Ohio State, an expert in disaster response and emergency preparedness, serves as the medical manager for Ohio Task Force 1.

Dr. Kman focuses on disaster response, including tornado aftermath, and specializes in emergency preparedness and response training.

"Training the next generation of responders crucial. Using advanced methods virtual reality for realistic disaster scenarios."
