Students Pay it Forward on their day off

Students serve the community 2014

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"

This question, posed by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is one familiar to Buckeye Nation, donors and students alike.

Pay it Forward, a small student cohort that promotes volunteerism on campus, pairs with the Frank W. Hale Black Cultural Center to host Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service ever year.

This year, over 1,000 students met on campus to be assigned to a nonprofit organization around Columbus. Assignments varied and included visiting with nursing home patients, green house gardening, cooking meals for the elderly, and discussing access to higher education with young teens.

The Ohio State University is so proud of our students and how they are changing the world everyday. We thank you for setting an example of giving for young Buckeyes who are Paying it Forward.

You can find pictures of past Pay it Forward events online. If you would like to give a student a gift in the form of a scholarship, please contact Leslie Kreinberg at
