This spring, Ohio State President Michael V. Drake combined his love of music with his mission for a more inclusive campus: He co-taught a course on the Civil Rights era, focusing on the music that helped shape the movement.

The course felt like a perfect fit for Drake, a music fan and guitar player whose 2020 Vision for the university includes furthering diversity and inclusion.

“He really thinks about the best way to deliver content, and he really thinks about developing students as people, which is just fantastic in a university president,” said teaching assistant Vanessa Tussey.

Following groundbreaking research on a brain implant that allowed a quadriplegic patient to regain movement, the Wexner Medical Center welcomed many of the nation’s most prominent scientists, technologists, entrepreneurs and athletes – from Dr. Ali Rezai and President Michael V. Drake, MD, to Arianna Huffington and Eddie George – for the first Global Brain Health and Performance Summit.
