Living history
If you could get in a time machine and go back to a moment in history, where--and when--would you go? For a group of Ohio State undergraduates, the fantasy of such travel was almost reality, as they visited Central Pacific sites alongside veterans who battled there during World War II.
"Hearing the stories of courage and sacrifice firsthand from veterans who fought, and in many cases bled, on these battlefields makes it come alive," says trip co-leader and history professor Peter Mansoor. "This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for these young men and women."
