Alumna named Rhodes Scholar. Ilhan Dahir, a 2015 graduate, was among a prestigious group of just 32 individuals selected to study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Dahir was chosen for her commitment to the empowerment of refugee communities around the world and her potential as a leader and advocate for refugees and communities in turmoil.
Campaign sets new record, aims even higher. Thanks to the support of almost 700,000 donors, the But for Ohio State Campaign has surpassed the $2.5 billion milestone and established a new record campaign total. It continues until September 30 — supporting the academic mission and vision of the university, including more than $437 million raised for students so far.
Tops for international experiences, enrollment. Ohio State ranks in the top 10 nationally for students studying abroad and in the top 15 for international student enrollment, according to the 2015 Open Doors Report. Students participating in these global experiences increased more than 10 percent while international students hail from 110 countries around the world.
From the big screen to Broadway. Ohio State's arts and sciences alumni are bringing their creativity to box-office hits like "The Peanuts Movie" and "Goosebumps," at-home favorites like "The Tonight Show" and lavish theater productions like "Dames at Sea." Steve Martino, director of "Peanuts," said Ohio State "launched me into the work I do today."
A world without Ohio State? Unimaginable. Buckeye alumni are far more likely than their peers to strongly agree that their school was the perfect choice for them, or that they can't imagine a world without Ohio State. They are also twice as likely as the national average to be emotionally attached to their alma mater, according to the "Great Jobs, Great Lives" survey.
