A ride that drives innovation

Nearly 8,000 cancer fighters took to the streets to ride in Pelotonia 16 earlier this month.

The annual event has raised more than $120 million to fund cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center — James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. So how are those funds driving innovation?

One example is the Pelotonia-funded research of Ohio State's Heather Hampel, who made a cancer discovery that spurred the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to issue a recommendation for all newly diagnosed colorectal cancer patients nationwide.
