Four reasons you should be Buckeye Bound

An endless wealth of resources and opportunities await students at The Ohio State University
A group of Ohio State students stand together on the Oval.

There’s no getting around it. Choosing a college is hard. There are so many things to take into consideration — especially when it comes to your future.

That’s why we wanted to take a minute to help get you into a #BuckeyeBound mindset. Tell you a little bit more about ourselves and why we think you're a perfect fit for Ohio State.

Now, don’t get us wrong. We’re not usually ones to brag, but:

1. Ohio State is an incredibly comprehensive university with top-ranked and expansive programs.

  • If you want to double major, change majors, explore majors or create your own, then you're in the right place! Not to mention that we’re one of the top 10 among the nation’s public universities for the quality of our undergraduate teaching capabilities.
  • Ohio State offers exceptional value for many families. Students get to work with world-class faculty, share a global alumni network and benefit from the reputation of a leader in knowledge creation and problem solving.
  • Our faculty will challenge you and bring you into their work, instilling you with confidence and hands-on learning. You’ll interact with them in the classroom, in research labs and even in your residence hall.

2. Our community’s spirit and pride create a unique and welcoming environment.

  • Ohio State students come from every state and more than 100 countries. Yet with all of our differences, we find a home here as Buckeyes.
  • Once you’re in, you’re a Buckeye for life. And with more than half a million alumni around the world, that’s a big family (and professional network *wink*).
  • Our academic and learning communities help students build relationships in smaller groups that lead to exploration, service and leadership development.

3. Your fellow Buckeyes are dedicated to helping you navigate all that Ohio State has to offer.

  • It all starts with an amazing orientation experience. Not only will you get a feel for how Ohio State works, but you’ll also meet incredible people, including your Peer Leaders, who will be there to support and encourage you throughout your first year.
  • You’re more than your major. Mix academics with social and personal interests to round out the whole you. Get involved in one of our big student initiatives, such as HackathonBuckeyethon, SÕL-CON, the Brain Health Hack or the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum.
  • How do we prepare you for your next step after graduation? Experiences. A thriving and global academic community. A big university in a big city. People and ideas that challenge you. Complex issues that need your vision. All as part of your first-year experience, and you carry them through to our one-of-a-kind Second-Year Transformational Experience Program.

4. Oh, and did we mention how incredible Columbus is?

  • Columbus is the nation’s 14th largest (bigger than San Francisco) city, but it’s still affordable, friendly and easy to get around in.
  • Ohio’s capital city is consistently named a top place to live and work, and its booming economy (and proximity to brainy talent at Ohio State) attracts tech startups and entrepreneurs doing innovative research.
  • Columbus is your instant incubator for career experience, even during a pandemic. Find internships and jobs with Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and nonprofits.

There you have it. What do you think? Can you see your incredibly vibrant, world-changing future starting here?

Because after all of that, it’s pretty clear that when you’re #BuckeyeBound, you’re bound for greatness.
