Asset Publishing Checklist
A checklist of required assets and information for publishing mobile applications to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store at The Ohio State University.
It is the app owner's responsibility to be aware of and provide the assets required for publishing to the Apple iOS app store and Google Play store. Failure to provide the necessary assets may delay app publishing! If in doubt, consult the guidelines:
A note about testing
- Testing is the app owner's responsiblility
- The app MUST be tested on actual physical devices before publishing to the OSU stores
Please provide the following basic information and files
The items below are a basic guide. It is the app owner's responsiblity to be aware of and provide assets required for publishing to the app stores.
Owner(s)
- Name
- Title
- Contact info
Developer(s)
- Name
- Title
- Contact info
App Name (as it will appear on the device)
- Long names can appear truncated on the screens of some devices.
- Search web for "app name length" for naming help
App information
- App's promotional/marketing website
- App's email address
- App's technical website (if available)
- Technical contact email (if different from "Developer" above)
- Primary audience (Ex: Anyone, Alumni, Staff, etc.)
- Countries in which the app should be sold (if not "All/United States")
- Description (text viewable within the App stores)
- Keywords (for App store searches), cannot exceed 100 characters
- Pricing (if not free, determined in conjunction with TCO: tco.osu.edu)
- Potential for commercial value (determined in conjunction with TCO)
- Release date
- Un-publish date (if applicable)
- Platforms supported (iOS, Android, etc.)
- Proof of accessibility review
- Proof of security review
- Privacy policy URL
App icon
- PNG format
- 1024x1024px (512px for Google Play)

Screenshots
- At least one full size, uncompressed (png, tiff) screenshot from each platform.
- iPhone and iPhone5 versions
- At this time of this writing:
- Screenshots for 3.5-inch iPhone and iPod touch Retina display must be 960x640, 960x600, 640x960 or 640x920 pixels, at least 72 DPI, in the RGB color space, and in the JPG or PNG format.
- Screenshots for 4-inch iPhone 5 and iPod touch (5th generation) Retina display must be 1136x640, 1136x600, 640x1136 or 640x1096 pixels, at least 72 DPI, in the RGB color space, and in the JPG or PNG format.
iPad/Tablet as well (if applicable)
- All iPad screenshots must be a .jpeg, .jpg, .tif, .tiff, or .png file that is 1024x768, 1024x748, 768x1024, 768x1004, 2048x1536, 2048x1496, 1536x2048 or 1536x2008 pixels, at least 72 DPI, and in the RGB color space.
Store requirements do change. When in doubt, consult the store documentation:
Source Code (provide when publishing has been approved)
- Complete uncompiled source code is required
- Be sure to include all external classes and files the code might reference
- If possible, please place source in the code.osu.edu code repository
