OSURA: Day Trip to Stone Lab

Event Description

Visit Stone Lab, Ohio State’s island campus on Lake Erie. 

Take a tour of their Mesocosm and Water Quality Lab located on South Bass Island and enjoy a lunch and tour of their classroom facilities located on Gibraltar Island. Top it off with a boat cruise on Lake Erie to experience and learn about their freshwater biology research.

Event Schedule

• Meet at Tremont Center in Upper Arlington at 5:45 a.m. (leaving at 6 a.m.) OR Meet at 2079 US 23N, Delaware at 6:45 a.m. (leaving at 7 a.m.)
• Motorcoach transportation
• Ferry transportation to South Bass Island
• Bus transportation to downtown Put-in-Bay
• Mesocosm Tour and Water Quality Lab Tour at the South Bass Island facilities
• Lunch and Tour of Gibraltar Island
• Science Cruise on Lake Erie
• Dinner
• Estimated return time of 7:45 p.m. (Delaware) or 8:30 p.m. (Tremont Center)

Registration must require each registrant to choose a pickup location:

1. Tremont Center
2. North Delaware

Registration must require each registrant to select a dinner choice:

• Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes/gravy, salad
• Chicken kabob (chicken/onions/peppers/mushrooms/black olives/tomatoes), rice pilaf, pita bread, salad
• Roast beef, mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, salad
• Catfish filets, mashed potatoes, salad
• Vegetable stir fry (carrots/mushrooms/onion/green peppers/broccoli), rice pilaf, salad

Note: All meals come with a beverage of coffee, soft drink, iced tea or lemonade.
