Buckeye Government Advocates newsletter
August 2025
Dear Buckeyes,
Greetings! We are so pleased to share this newsletter for advocates like you who serve as champions for Ohio State. We hope that it will be informative to you as you share your own Buckeye story with others. Your commitment enables our university to advance our land-grant mission of teaching, research and service across Ohio and beyond every day.
This spring, we were delighted to welcome Beau Ingle as the Alumni Association’s new senior government affairs specialist. Beau comes to us from the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES). Beau will direct the Buckeye Government Advocates program and lead signature advocacy events, including the Scarlet and Gray Congressional Breakfast and Alumni in Government Luncheon. Keep a look out for more opportunities to engage as a Buckeye Advocate later this year!
Thank you for your continued interest and supporting the university’s engagement and advocacy efforts. Your contributions are key to making the case why premier, land-grant universities like Ohio State are critical - now more than ever - to our state, our nation and our world.
Go Bucks!
Join us as a Buckeye Government Advocate
Since its inception in 1977, the Buckeye Government Advocates program actively engages, informs and encourages alumni and friends of the university to communicate with elected officials and community leaders regarding the challenges and issues facing higher education and directly impacting Ohio State. We prepare our alumni and friends to effectively engage with public officials and foster relationships with key stakeholders. We work with our advocates to promote the value of the university and the role its students, faculty, staff and graduates play in making Ohio the destination for living working, and learning.
Advocates should:
- Stay informed about issues of importance to Ohio State through this newsletter
- Participate in virtual and in-person events throughout the year
- Develop relationships with elected officials
Elected officials count on their constituents to speak to them about what matters in their communities. Engage with your elected officials and let them know how Ohio State has positively impacted you. Personal stories can shape public policy and are a powerful way to illustrate your support for Ohio State.
