Enriching firm friendships across our alumni and Buckeye communities

Melissa Muth

Melissa Muth (’82), a proud alumna of The Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences , has dedicated much of her life to volunteering and making a positive impact at Ohio State and in her community.

One cause Melissa has championed is raising funds for cancer research. She has been an active participant in the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer and has ridden in nearly every Pelotonia ride, missing only two years since its inception in 2009. She’s also a member of Women & Philanthropy, a collective giving program within the Ohio State Alumni Association that has raised over $2.8 million to date for scholarships and research. She serves on both the scholarships and grants committees, co-chairing the latter, and enjoys seeing the high caliber of students and faculty attracted to Ohio State in part because of this program. In their applications, she sees their passion, knowledge and enthusiasm shine.

Beyond Ohio State, Melissa is deeply involved in sustainability efforts in her local community. She serves as the chair of Hilliard’s Environmental Sustainability Commission, co-creator and vice chair for Keep Hilliard Beautiful and is the board of trustee chair for the Ohio Wildlife Center.

Outside of her volunteer work, Melissa leads a fulfilling life. An early retirement has allowed her to travel the world, visiting all seven continents and swimming in all five oceans. She continues to explore new countries and learn about life outside the United States. Melissa has also rekindled her love for music, singing in two community choral groups (once performing "Handel’s Messiah" at Carnegie Hall!) and taking piano lessons.

Melissa Muth's story is a testament to the profound impact that dedicated volunteers make. Her passion and commitment to service are making a difference every day, at Ohio State, and beyond.
