Enriching firm friendships across our alumni and Buckeye communities

Ted and Marlene Temple

Ted and Marlene (’86, ’87) Temple of Marion, Ohio have been supporting the university they love for over 30 years. Ted has served as the president of the Ohio State Marion Alumni Club since 1988, and Marlene has been the secretary since 1986.

As leaders of the Marion club, the Temples have organized hundreds of events and programs benefiting Ohio State students and the Marion community, including volunteering at their church, where they are also trustees. From delivering scholarship applications to local schools, stocking the food pantry, serving refreshments at various events and even cooking for board meetings, these two are full-service advocates. Organizing tailgates before home games and bus trips to Big Ten games is also something the Temples enjoy helping with. Their passion for bringing people together even extends to other schools. The Marion club once hosted the Indiana University Alumni Club for a tailgate with over 80 people! At every event, they show their spirit by donning scarlet and gray.

One of their favorite events is the annual Big Ten Buckeye Bash. The occasion brings alumni and friends across the Big Ten together for an evening of fun activities. Over the years, it has raised more than $200,000 for scholarships to local students.

Ted and Marlene Temple demonstrate exceptional dedication and enthusiasm, setting the standard for outstanding volunteers. They personify the essence of The Ohio State University, motivating others to strive for excellence.

“Being involved with the campus all these years and interacting with people, especially the students, alumni and staff, has made our relationship with the Ohio State Marion Campus one of the best parts of volunteering.”
