My name is Samuel Morrow and I am a fourth-year student from the small community of Homeworth, Ohio and am majoring in history and political science with a minor in French. During my time at The Ohio State University, I have taken a wide variety of courses, ranging from advanced research-intensive seminars to interesting electives. As a member of the University Honors Program, I have also earned a place on the dean’s list each semester and was inducted into two academic honors societies. Outside of academics, I stay active in the Ohio State and Columbus communities. I have participated in Undergraduate Student Government, Breathe Hope OSU, History Club and Holy Family Catholic Parish & Soup Kitchen.

After graduating from Ohio State, I hope to continue in my current job field, working in local planning and administration. I believe that success and well-being begins at the local level and I am passionate about building and maintaining sustainable communities that are conducive to growth, prosperity and equality. Ohio State has most certainly played a huge role in shaping my passions and future. Our caring faculty, staff and students pushed me to explore my interests and to become an active member in the community.

The scholarships that I received this year most certainly helped me achieve my goals and without them, it is likely that I would have been unable to continue my education. As a full-time employee and the child of a blue-collar family, the financial challenges that a college education pose were quite worrisome. I did not want to graduate with a mountain of debt, which would have perpetuated any financial struggles. However, receiving these amazing scholarships has allowed me to continue my education free of financial worry. In fact, I will be graduating in the spring of 2022 with absolutely no student debt. None of this would have been a reality without the amazing programs and donors that make these special scholarships possible. I sincerely thank every single donor and staff member for the great honor of receiving these scholarships which have truly made my college experience special.

With Gratitude,
Samuel Morrow
