The President's Club began offering virtual presentations with the debut of the Speaker Series in June 2020. These events remain popular, and the program continues to evolve, offering you a variety of subjects presented by leaders in their fields at Ohio State. Cognitive Loss: Is this Normal Aging?
Our presentation featured Douglas W. Scharre, MD, FAAN, director of the Division of Cognitive Neurology in the Department of Neurology. Dr. Scharre shared insights on distinguishing normal aging from early signs of cognitive decline and dementia. He also highlighted the importance of early detection — including the role of the Self-Administered Gerocognitive Examination (SAGE test) — and provided an overview of current treatment options, both approved therapies and those in clinical trials research. Additionally, he discussed recent advancements and ongoing work at Ohio State.
