New student spotlights

Investing in leadership, resilience and community impact

Women & Philanthropy at Ohio State is thrilled to welcome two extraordinary incoming students whose passion for service and leadership reflects the university’s motto, Education for Citizenship. Each has been awarded $7,000 per year—totaling $28,000—to support their academic journey and amplify their impact.

Welcoming our newest scholars

  • Ryleigh Brenamen-Trumbull, Class of 2029, Hermann Family Women & Philanthropy Scholar

A first-generation marketing major, Ryleigh arrives at Ohio State with a powerful story of advocacy and action. Inspired by her grandmother’s ALS diagnosis, she raised over $29,000 to support ALS patients and research. Her leadership as an event director and her nationally recognized DECA project have already made waves—partnering with I Am ALS to host youth webinars and expand access to clinical trials. Ryleigh’s empathy-driven leadership is just beginning to blossom.

  • Abigail Ann Shibu, Class of 2029

Abigail brings a global perspective and a heart for service. Having lived in India, Canada, and now the U.S., she’s developed resilience and compassion that fuel her pre-health studies. As vice president of her high school’s National Honor Society, she led food drives, organized service events and built community among her peers. Abigail’s commitment to healthcare and civic engagement promises to enrich the Buckeye community in powerful ways.

Women & Philanthropy is honored to invest in these student leaders. Their stories remind us that when we support students today, we shape a future defined by compassion, innovation and civic responsibility.

Women & Philanthropy scholarships, grants, membership, programs and events are open to all regardless of sex or gender.
