Public Impact Scholarship

The fund provides one or more scholarship(s) to students with a demonstrated financial need, who are enrolled in their final term(s) in the College of Social Work (“College”), in order to fund a one-time pre-graduation gift designed to provide support for funding of items such as, but not limited to, covering the costs of up to two licensure exams, licensing, and professional clothing. The graduate will be provided with continuing education credits (CEUs) through the College for a period of two years to maintain license post-graduation. Students will be enrolled in courses in the College of their choosing, at no cost, up to the required 30 hours of continuing education credits for every two years. Students must fully participate and their attendance must be documented by the College in order to receive the CEUs, as is standard business practice. The continuing education database will allow us to track these graduates so they are not charged. Additionally, to support students who seek employment in traditionally underserved areas, should the student be employed by an agency that pays a salary equal to 85 percent or less of the average starting salary for a new social worker, the College will also provide awards to the graduate in the first and second year of employment to supplement the graduate’s salary as available funds allow.
