Southwest Connecticut Alumni Club - Scholarship

Scholarship

The Ohio State University Alumni Scholars Program (ASP) is intended to recruit, provide recognition and financial assistance to incoming freshmen. The Alumni Association coordinates with the local alumni club, Admissions and Undergraduate Financial Aid.

The program provides scholarship awards as competitive, merit-based, recruitment scholarships. Selection criteria:

  • Graduate from a high school in Fairfield or New Haven counties in Connecticut.
  • First year incoming student.
  • Students who preferably apply to the University by November 1.
  • Preferably accepted to The Ohio State University but not required.
  • Record of participation in school, community, extracurricular activities, and academic merit.
  • Show a sound interest and positive attitude toward college work.
  • Quality of answers to questions in application.
  • Possibly, a personal interview with our local Scholarship Committee.

OSU Alumni Club of Southwest Connecticut scholarship awards are typically $1000 to $1200. The number of awards may also vary, depending on the availability of funds. Payment will be made to the student’s account at the Ohio State University and dispersed evenly one time the first two semesters (Autumn/Spring).

Apply for a club scholarship and others by signing in to ScholarshipUniverse.

The application is open from December 1 until February 15.

Award posting from Financial Aid will be on the recipient’s Buckeye Link account in spring.  There are occasions when the recipient is not determined until summer.

If a student is going to be an OSU varsity student athlete (even walk-on status), the student may be eligible for the club scholarship award. Ohio State Athletic Compliance must approve an award on a case-by-case basis.

It is suggested students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FSFSA) to be eligible for any financial need-based scholarships and grants.  If interested in university merit-based scholarships, students must apply to the University by November 1.  All information can be found at http://www.sfa.osu.edu.
