INSPIRE Study: Predicting Pre-Eclampsia in Early Pregnancy

McKenzie Jancsura, a dedicated researcher at The Ohio State University College of Nursing, is passionate about preventing pre-eclampsia, a serious pregnancy complication. Her research focuses on predicting and preventing this condition to protect mothers and babies. She has developed a new test using a small blood sample to predict who might develop pre-eclampsia and is working to make this test ready for use in hospitals and clinics. This important work will help bring her research from the lab to real-life medical care.
Revealing Hidden Risks: Advancing Hip Fracture Prevention
Mary Beth Cole, an Assistant Professor in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at The Ohio State University, is a biological anthropologist specializing in bone tissue biology. Her research examines how aging, behavior, and disease affect bone strength, using advanced 3D imaging to study bone quality and injury risk – from falls to car crashes. Focusing on osteoporosis, which disproportionately affects women, she aims to improve the prediction and prevention of hip fractures by identifying critical changes in bone structure that traditional methods often miss.
