Cerena Dawson

Cerena chose to come to Ohio State so that she could have the convenience of staying in state for school, but also take advantage of the bigger campus that lets her meet people of different backgrounds.

HOMETOWN: Cleveland, Ohio
CAMPUS: Columbus
MAJOR: Marketing with a studio art minor
YEAR: 4th year

ACTIVITIES: Fisher First | Pathways to Supply Chain Program | Community Lead at Scott Traditions Dining | Event Coordinator for Photography Club | Cru | Honors Cohort | ARFWide Program

When Cerena’s mom lost her job and their financial status changed during her freshman year, she had to figure out how to continue paying for her education. Thankfully, Cerena connected with Ricardo Zamaripa at the Office of Academic Affairs, who helped her through every step of financial aid, identifying funding opportunities that Cerena could utilize throughout her academic journey. Cerena’s scholarships allow her to focus less on paying for school and more on taking art classes, participating in clubs and exploring career paths aligned with her interests and her marketing degree.

Cerena recently took a trip to Chicago with Fisher’s Honors Cohort, which she found to be very eye-opening. She got to see city life, hear from inspiring speakers and visit the United Center and Pricewaterhouse Coopers. She loved the happy hour with Ohio State alumni, which showed her “how willing people are to meet and connect with a Buckeye!”

“Thank you for supporting scholarships and investing in our future. I hope you see the evidence of how much this helps people.”
