What makes The Ohio State University so great for its students?
Welcome to Ohio State's Class of 2026

What makes The Ohio State University so beneficial for students? Here are a few of the most-asked questions, and we've got answers.

1. What if I'm still exploring majors or want to change my major?

We're here to help. Ohio State has more than 200 majors and 500 specializations to choose from. And with the Personalized Study Program allowing you to design your own major, those options increase exponentially.

Not quite sure what you’re into yet? We provide exceptional guidance when you need some help deciding your path or want to change your major. We're committed to helping you find the best fit — and still graduate on time.

2. How am I going to pay for all of this?

First things first: Have you filed the FAFSA? Applying for aid on time is important, no matter which college you decide on. For Ohio State, the priority date is Feb. 15. Notification for university merit scholarships begins in February for students who met the early action application deadline. Plus, we highly recommend you try for a scholarship on Scholarship Universe (you'll need your Ohio State username and password to access).

3. Is the food any good?

From Korean tacos to fettuccini Alfredo, you'll find incredible campus spots to grab just about any kind of food you can imagine — as healthy or indulgent as you want.

Have a restricted diet? Peanut allergy? Kosher? Vegan, maybe? Never fear. You can even sort your huge list of options by diet and allergy. Too tired or swamped to go out? There are even places that will deliver to you. So dig in!

4. What is there to do? How can I get involved?

Really, this question should be, “How do I even decide what to do?!” An unparalleled education is just the start of what's here at Ohio State.

We boast more than 1,400 student organizations, incredible volunteer opportunities, study abroad, custom-built residence halls designed for your success and more. Plus, the Columbus campus sits right in the heart of the city, so that opens up an entire other world of activity possibilities.

Longer answer: Awesome, and here’s why. One-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art, “I never thought college life would be like this,” residence halls.

Convenient access to classes, gatherings, quiet study spots, social events, the 'Shoe and, of course, The Oval. Dedicated learning communities living together to achieve the same goal.
